Seated With Christ

“And raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

Christianity is a life of power and not weakness and defeat. We have been brought into the Kingdom of God through faith in Jesus Christ. The scripture teaches us that the kingdom of God is not in word but in power (1 Cor. 4:20).

This is very important for us to know as children of God. We are not powerless — we have all the power of God at our disposal. This power gives us dominion over sin, sickness, the world, the devil and demons.

Our opening scripture is one of those key verses that can open our eyes to how much power is available to us. It says that God has raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We are seated with Christ in the heavenly places.

But we know that Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father. The phrase ‘right hand’ means the place of authority and power. So, sitting with Christ in the heavenly places means that we have been lifted to a place of authority and great power in God.

As a child of God, you are seated with Christ at the right hand of authority and power. This means that you have all the ability you need to walk away from any sinful habit, live a life free from sickness and disease, and be able to achieve all your dreams. You can do all things through the power available to you in Christ.

There is no limit to how much you can become, how much liberty you can walk in, and how much you can accomplish. You are seated with Christ in a place of authority and power. So, choose to walk in this power and live the life that God has made available to you in Christ, in Jesus Name.

Building Confidence in Leadership

“Be strong (confident) and of good courage, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.”

One of the most important demands of leadership is confidence. You cannot lead afraid or timid — you must lead confident.

Joshua had to learn this lesson immediately after taking over Moses’ position as leader of the children of Israel. God commanded him to be confident and courageous. It was key to his leadership effectiveness.

So, how do you build confidence to lead in business, at home, at the workplace, and in ministry?

The answer is in Joshua 1:8. God didn’t only command Joshua to be confident — He also showed him how. He said, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (NCV)

Genuine and lasting confidence in leadership is built on the discipline of hearing and understanding God’s Word. What God says to you in His Word is the material for being a confident leader in your company, at home and in ministry.

To every leader, God speaks specific words that are not general but personal. These words come from the pages of the Bible but are uniquely inspired to speak directly into the leader’s life and strengthen their heart in God.

As you hear from God, faith and confidence is built. The words God speaks to you erase all your fears and doubts. They are your weapons for confronting and defeating every opposing force on your leadership journey.

Leaders are raised by the Word of God. They are built and perfected through the knowledge of God’s Word. Their confidence is built on the Word of God — it is the sure foundation for victory and great success.

So, as a leader, it is very important for you to know the Word of God. It is your main platform for building confidence for effective leadership. Glory to Jesus!

Consider The Word

“And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”

Romans 4:19-21 (KJV)

Every believer is involved in one fight — it is called the good fight of faith. The good fight of faith is the continual battle to walk in the promises of God. It is the fight to walk in all that Christ has made available for you through His finished work of redemption.

For example, Christ has made healing available, but you must possess it by faith. When Satan tries to put sickness on your body, you should use your faith in God’s Word to resist him and walk in divine health. Faith is your ability to resist the devil and his works. It is your ability to connect to all that the grace of God has made available through Christ.

One of the most fundamental parts of the good fight of faith is learning what to consider and what not to consider. In our opening scripture, Abraham considered not his own body (too old to father a child) and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.

The phrase ‘consider not’ doesn’t mean you don’t see it, but that you don’t pay close attention to it. It means to regard not. It is a fight to reject negative thoughts, opinions and feelings from controlling your life and moving you away from faith in God’s Word.

Though Abraham’s body was too old and his wife’s womb was dead, he refused to pay close attention to those facts and regard them as a reason to doubt God. Instead, he chose to focus on the promise God made to him. He considered the promise of God and by focusing on it, he was able to continue in faith until he obtained the miracle of Isaac.

In the fight of faith, what you choose to focus on and pay close attention to determines whether you win or fail. If Abraham had focused on his body and the condition of Sarah’s womb, he would have staggered at the promise of God through unbelief. His faith was only kept strong and became victorious because he focused on God and His sure promise to him.

So, learn to exalt God and His Word above what you see in your body, feel or hear around you. The Word of God should stay before your eyes at all times in spite of any negative medical report. As you pay close attention to God and His promise and refuse to consider the negative facts around you, God’s power will prevail and work miracles for you, in Jesus’ Name!

Let God Transform You

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.”

After receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, the next phase is being transformed.

Transformation is the process God takes you through to change you from being a baby Christian into a mature Christian. It is the process of changing from being a believer in Christ into becoming His disciple.

The ultimate goal of transformation is to change you into the image and likeness of Christ. It helps you become like Jesus in word, thought, purpose and action.

Our opening scripture teaches us that we are transformed by God through the changing of our thinking. Through the teaching of God’s Word, God reshapes your way of thinking so that you adopt the thinking pattern of Christ.

By changing the way you think, God helps you see things His way and start acting like Christ. This means that the greatest obstacle to changing into the image of Christ is an unrenewed mind.

Until your thinking pattern is changed by the Word of God, it is impossible to manifest the character and power of Christ in you. God changes your way of thinking so that your spirit man is not hindered in expression.

Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:2 show us that this transformation takes place as you give yourself continually to studying, meditating on, confessing and obeying the Word of God.

Meditation stands out among all because it is the process through which the seed of God’s Word is directly planted in your mind. By thinking on God’s Word daily, you start adopting the thoughts, ways and mindset of heaven. This helps you start acting like a child of God and walk in His perfect will for your life.

Let God transform you because only the transformed Christians find their purpose and easily fulfil it. Let God transform you because it is the key to becoming a disciple of Christ. Let God transform you because it is the key to manifesting both the character and power of Christ in this world. Hallelujah!

Your Inheritance in Christ

“Christ himself carried our sins in his body to the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness. It is by his wounds that you have been healed.”

Faith is a result of having a clear knowledge of God’s Word. Until the Word of God is made clear to you, it is difficult to have faith.

One of the main purposes of God’s Word is to reveal to us our inheritance in Christ. An inheritance refers to that which is rightfully yours by law — your appointed possession because of the unique relationship you have with someone.

When Christ died for us, He not only redeemed us but also purchased for us an inheritance in God. In Psalm 103:2, David prophetically called this inheritance ‘benefits’. He said, “Bless the Lord O my soul and forget none of His benefits.” He helps us understand that there are many benefits for being connected to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. These benefits are our inheritance — our rightful legal possession through faith in Jesus Christ.

Verse 3 says, “Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” These two are our first and foremost redemptive benefits. All our sins are forgiven and all our diseases are healed. This is the same message echoed in 1 Peter 2:24. Christ died for us to obtain righteousness, and by His wounds we were healed of all sickness and disease.

As a believer in Christ, forgiveness of sins and divine healing are your lawful inheritance. They are rightfully yours because of your connection to Christ as your Lord and Saviour. This means that God is always ready to forgive all your sins and heal your body of every disease because of your relationship with Christ.

The death of Christ is the foundation you should always stand upon and be assured of forgiveness for all your sins and healing for all sickness.

By the death of Jesus, the court of heaven already ruled that you are an heir of righteousness and divine healing. So all you have to do is claim your inheritance through faith and you will have it, in Jesus’ Name. That is the knowledge that makes faith for forgiveness of sins and divine healing simple. It is your inheritance, in Jesus’ Name!

Because Jesus Lives: Hope Beyond Physical Death

“In a little while the world will see me no more, but you will see me; and because I live, you also will live.”

One of the greatest fears of mankind is the fear of death. Many people will pay any price to stay alive, yet with all their efforts, they eventually die. Even science has tried to find a solution but it has failed.

The good news is that one of the main reasons why Jesus came was to deliver us from the fear of death. Hebrews 2:14 says He defeated the devil for us so that we can be free from the fear of death.

Paul writes and asks, “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. How we thank God, who gives us victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord! (1 Corinthians 15:55-57 NLT).

The sting of death is sin and the strength of death is the law, but Jesus has set us free from both of them. Through His blood all our sins were washed away and forgiven. Through His sacrifice on the Cross, He delivered us from the curse of the law. We are not under the law but under grace and sin no longer has dominion over us (Gal. 3:13-14, Romans 6:1-14).

The purpose of the resurrection of Christ was to give us hope beyond physical death. There is hope of being alive after death. As children of God, our hearts should never be troubled when a believer dies, for we know that they only transitioned and went to heaven to be with the Lord. Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25).

There is a solution to death and it is found in Jesus Christ. Because He defeated death and rose again, all those who put their faith in Him enjoy victory over sin and death. Salvation is the key to setting people free from sin and the fear of death. This is the gospel - the good news of Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!

Building a Strong Christian Life

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

After receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, the next part is pursuing growth. The purpose of growth is to make us strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. This positions us in a way so that we can withstand the evil attacks of the enemy. It also helps us rise to the place of discovering our God given purpose and be empowered to fulfill it.

So, how do we build a strong Christian life?

Our opening scripture gives us the way. The primary way is through confession of God’s word. By keeping God’s word in your mouth, you build a strong spiritual life and easily defeat the devil and his wicked plans.

Confession means speaking in agreement with God’s word. It means being in agreement with God in speech. It is filling your mouth with the word of God and making it your language.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Until your tongue is touched by God, your life can’t be changed. Confession is the pathway to allowing God to influence your life by influencing your tongue. It is the way you fill your words with life and not death.

What other people speak about you doesn’t affect you as much as what you speak about yourself does. Your words rule you more than any other person’s words. So, the easiest way to change your life is by changing what you say about yourself. And the best way to change your words, is by keeping God’s word in your mouth. Confessing God’s word, is the primary wisdom for building a strong Christian life. Glory to Jesus!

Building a Strong Christian Life (Part II)

Building a strong Christian life means deliberately growing in Christ daily until you become what He purposed for your life. It is the process of doing those things demanded of you everyday inorder to rise to your appointed place of destiny in Christ.

1 Peter 2:2 reveals to us that at the onset of our salvation, we are “new born babies” and we need to desire the sincere milk of the word so that we can grow up. So, no one starts out in Christ as a mature Christian; we all need to grow up unto maturity.

It is also important to note that there is a great difference between being a Christian and being a strong Christian. Being a Christian is by receiving Jesus as your Lord and Savior but it is through daily effort that you become a strong Christian.

In yesterday’s devotion, I taught on confessing God’s word as the primary way to build a strong Christian life. The second way to build a strong Christian life is by continually meditating on the word of God.

Meditation refers to filling your mind with God’s word daily. It is the act of deliberately separating yourself from all things that distract, to think on the scriptures.

Through meditation on the word, you replace old thoughts with new ones; ungodly thinking patterns are replaced with godly ones. The impure is replaced with the pure; what comes from the devil is deleted and replaced with that which is from God.

Meditation allows the word of God to sink down into your heart. It is the process of “chewing the word of God until it is effectively digested”. The word in your mind is information, but as you meditate on it, it becomes a revelation in your heart. It is that revelation that changes your thoughts and transforms your character eternally.

So, it is wisdom to practice the habit of giving yourself wholly to the word of God through deliberate sessions of meditation. 1 Timothy 4:15, Joshua 1:8, and Psalm 1:2-3 assure you that as you meditate on God’s word, you will become a great success. Meditation on God’s word, is a sure platform for building you into a strong and very successful christian so that your life glorifies God in this world in all things. Glory to Jesus!

Building a Strong Christian Life (Part III)

A strong Christian is one who can stand the tests and trials in this world. He is one with clear knowledge about His identity in Christ and the power of God working for him. The strong Christian is aware of God’s purpose for their life and is empowered to pursue it.

In the previous devotions, we discussed two ways to build a strong Christian life; confession and meditation on God’s word.

The third way to build a strong Christian life is by practicing the word of God. Practicing the word of God involves acting on the word of God. It refers to walking in obedience to the principles of scripture.

Matthew 7:24-25 (NIV) reveals this truth saying, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

A strong Christian life is built on daily practice of God’s word. As you hear and act on the scriptures, you rise to higher levels of spiritual strength. This enables you to stand strong in times of testing without falling.

In the natural, eating food nourishes your body, but going to the gym, and engaging in work, are the ones that make your body strong. If you keep feeding on the word but don’t practice it, it won’t make you strong. The word that you practice is the one that builds you and makes you strong enough to withstand all opposing forces.

James 1:22 (GNT) says, “Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice.” This verse teaches us that if we only hear the word and do not obey what is says, we deceive ourselves. Practicing the word is what connects you to the spiritual strength God has for you.

So, choose to be a doer of the word of God and not just a hearer. Let the word of God be the foundation for all your decisions and actions at your workplace, in your home and in your ministry. This is the key to building a strong Christian life, in Jesus Name.

Assured Victory in Christ

“Now thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes known the fragrance of his knowledge by us in every place.”

When you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, Satan marks you as his enemy. He will use trials and temptations to try to take you off the path, send demonic forces to try to oppress you and hinder you from enjoying your new life in Christ. He will also use people to fight you, your family and your destiny.

However, our opening scripture assures us that regardless of what the enemy uses to attack us, our victory is assured in Christ. It says, “Now thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ ...”. Therefore, as a child of God, victory is your end result in every battle.

No matter how intense the battle is or how long the enemy fights you, the end is you being victorious over him. Hallelujah! This truth assures you that the forces from God working in and for you, are much stronger than all the forces of the enemy working against you.

1 John 4:4 says, “Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.” God is with you in every storm and He upholds you in every trying time. He said, “I will never leave you or forsake you”. He is committed to you at all times and His purpose for your life cannot be aborted or destroyed by the enemy.

Stand confident and know that “in all these things, you are more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus”. The moment you decided to follow Christ, and accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, you entered into a life of continual victory over the enemy. You are stronger than every habit, demon, trial or sickness Satan uses against you. Christ lives in you and His power works mightily in you to always give you victory in all things. This is the gospel, in Jesus Name!

The Body for the Lord

“The Lord does not want us to use our bodies to do sexually immoral things. Instead, the Lord wants us to use our bodies in ways that please him. Also, the Lord wants us to do what is good for our bodies.”

When Jesus came, He put on a human body. He was the Word of God made flesh. He couldn’t function effectively without a physical body. As our example, the Lord was revealing to us something important - the purpose of the body. Jesus was teaching us that we serve God with our spirit, but we are also called to serve Him with our physical bodies. We worship Him in spirit and in truth, but we can also worship Him with our bodies.

God’s desire is that He be Lord over your entire being - spirit, soul and body. He wants to express Himself through you in an unlimited way.

By using your body in ways that are pleasing to God, you serve Him with your body. Forexample, by refusing to give in your body to sexual temptation and sin, you are serving God with your body. By taking up responsibility in the house of God as an usher and welcoming people every Sunday, you are serving God with your body.

Jesus offered His body as a sacrifice for our sins. God used His body to carry all our sins away and bring us forgiveness. He also used His body to carry away our diseases and bring us healing. Therefore, serving God with your body means that God benefits from the activities of your body. It means using your physical energy and strength to promote the purposes of God and advance His kingdom in the Earth.

Romans 12:1 says that as you present your body a living sacrifice to God daily, that act becomes worship before God. The word worship used here also means service. So, everytime you are called upon to participate in any activity that promotes the spread of God’s kingdom, it is your opportunity to present your body as an instrument for serving God. As you offer your skills, energy and talents to serve the purposes of God, you are telling God that He is Lord over your body. That service cannot be ignored by God; it is an act of worship to Him. Glory to Jesus!

In Yesterday’s devotion, we focused on using our bodies to serve the Lord. I explained that serving God with your body is an act of worship. Today, I want to focus your attention on the phrase “... and the Lord for the body” as used in our opening scripture.

What does it mean for the Lord to be for your body?

The phrase ‘the Lord for the body,’ simply means that God is not against your body. He is not an enemy to your body. As simple as this sounds, it reveals something very deep and important.

Everytime your body is attacked by disease and pain, never think that it is from God. No pain or disease in your body ever comes from God because God is for your body and not against it.

Disease and pain are against your bodily health. They therefore do not come from God but from the enemy.

Satan is the cause of sickness and pain because he is the one against your body. He is not for your body. He seeks to steal your health and kill your body (John 10:10).

When you understand this truth, you will not treat any pain or disease as normal. It will build within you a zeal and faith to successfully resist every kind of pain Satan uses to attack your body.

According to Acts 10:38, Jesus is the healer of all diseases and Satan is the oppressor of our bodies. He uses sickness as a tool to oppress. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil including sickness and disease to show us that God is for our bodies.

The Lord Who is the healer of all diseases is not against your body. He wants to heal you of every sickness and disease and deliver you from all pains. Understand that divine healing is God’s message to you to show you that He is for your body and not against it. He wants you alive and healthy, and never sick, in Jesus Name! Hallelujah!

Salvation is an entry into a new kingdom and a new life. However, is is also the receiving of a new Master.

Before we are born again, we are under the rulership of the devil as our master. It is through salvation that we are set free from the Lordship of Satan and become children of God.

In salvation, Jesus is not only our Savior from sin but He is also our Lord. He is our new Master. As your Lord, He guides all your ways through the Holy Spirit, and you are called to live for Him in all things.

The Lordship of Jesus is not meant to be a burden but an act of love for Him. The love you have for Jesus is the one that provokes you to yield to Him as your Master. We submit to Him because we love Him more than any other.

Jesus said, “no one can serve two masters, he will have to hate the one and love the other”. Our submission to Jesus as Lord is a direct statement to Satan that he is not our master. It is a statement to hell and to heaven that we have chosen to follow Jesus and have nothing to do with Satan. Hallelujah!

The Lordship of Jesus sets us free from Satan and puts us under the care of our Master. Satan, sin, demons and sickness all have no authority over you because they are not your master. Jesus is your Lord and preserves you from being ruled by any of those evil forces. This is the benefit of submitting to the Lordship of Jesus Christ!

The greatest challenge of a Christian is not the devil but ignorance of God’s word. As you know the truth from God’s word, it becomes clear to you that God is so powerful and the devil is not meant to be a major concern to you.

The teaching of God’s word renews your mind and elevates your thinking to catch up with God’s way of thinking. Our opening scripture reveals that every time you sit under the teaching of God’s word, you are not simply hearing words, light and understanding are being imparted to you.

The light from God’s word is a source of solutions to all human problems. It is the means for defeating all forms of darkness around you. Forexample, as you receive the light on divine healing, the faith for healing is born and you are empowered to defeat every sickness in your body.

The teaching of God’s word is God’s main channel for transforming your character, bringing you the correction you need, and inspiring you to greater levels of His wisdom and anointing.

2 Peter 1:2, reveals that the grace and peace of God are multiplied in your life as you listen to sound teaching of God’s word. So, every grace you need can be imparted to you as you sit under a teaching priest. For everything that has troubled your heart, God’s word has an answer that can bring you peace.

Finally, John 8:32 reveals a staggering truth. It teaches that your freedom is dependent on how much truth you know. The truth you know is what sets you free. So, it is great wisdom for you to be a lover of the teaching of God’s word. Glory to Jesus!

Vision is the foundation for true leadership. As a leader, people follow you because you are going somewhere. They follow you because you are pursuing a worthy cause.

One of the aspects of true vision is that it gives you a long-term view about life. Vision reveals to you what to do today and what to do tomorrow.

Habakkuk 2:3 says, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

Vision gives you a long-term view about life. It helps you not only live for today but also see the future and prepare for it effectively. It is that vision of the future that helps you be patient in life.

Many people perish and cast off restraint because they lack patience. They give up on life because they never had a long-term view of life. They thought life is short but as it gets longer, they get discouraged. Vision is the cure for impatience and discouragement.

Having a vision from God keeps you patient because it shows you the future. It gives you a reason to be persistent and not give up on your goals and dreams. It gives you hope that things will change and get better.

So, build your life on a clear vision from God and not on events. Keep to the course God has showed you and don’t give up inspite of the challenges. The promise is sure “though it tarry, wait for it because at the end it will speak.” Glory to Jesus!

How to Stay Pure as a Youth

Purity means living for God. It is a deliberate decision to always glorify God by staying away from everything God dislikes and disapproves of in His Word. It is also known as holiness or holy living.

Our opening scripture (Psalm 119:9), shows us how to stay pure as young people because it is important. We stay pure by obeying God’s word and following its rules. Living by the scriptures, is the key to keeping yourself pure as a youth.

However, first of all, this verse teaches us that living a pure and holy life in this world is possible. Until we settle this, we can’t even go on to the next part of the conversation. Every young person must believe that it is possible to live a pure life before they can live it.

In the Bible, we see Joseph living for God even in his youthful days. He refused to defile himself by sleeping with Potiphar’s wife because he feared God.

The same is true about Daniel and his three friends. Though they were taken captive in Babylon (a wicked city), they refused to be corrupted by the evil in that nation. They stuck to the values of God’s Word and prevailed.

So, the first step in living a pure life, is to believe that it is possible to live a pure life in this world. There is more than enough grace in Jesus Christ to uphold you and keep you from being corrupted by the evil things in this world. The reason is that as a child of God, though you are in the world, you are not of this world.

This mindset will propel you to take the second step which is obeying and living according to the rules in God’s Word. Because you are a child of God, you can live above its evils by staying committed to what God says in His Word. This is your wisdom for staying pure as a youth, in Jesus Name!

Take Charge Through Faith

The message of faith teaches us to take personal responsibility for whatever we need in our life. Instead of blaming God and the people around us, the word of faith teaches us to do something about our situation.

Your life will dramatically change and take a new direction when you believe and know that God Has already done all that is needed to make you a success. The only remaining part is yours to do.

In our opening scripture, we see that though Jesus was God, as long as He slept and did nothing about the storm, it continued. The boat kept filling up with water and the winds blew all the time He was sleeping.

Note also that He didn’t rebuke the winds and waves in His sleep, but He had to arise out of sleep and take charge of the situation. That is what changed the whole situation.

Faith in God challenges you to arise and take charge of the situation. Faith assures you that you have the power through God to dominate and subdue any negative situation in your life.

Jesus operated by faith when He arose, spoke to the winds and the sea, and commanded them to quiet down. Faith speaks to the storm and it obeys. If it is a disease, don’t lie down in bed and allow it to keep harassing your body; arise, rebuke it in Jesus’ Name, and take your healing!

There is no storm that will continue in your life if you choose to believe the word of God and take responsibility over it through faith. There will be more than enough power available for you to calm the storms around you if you arise and act on the word of God in faith, in Jesus Mighty Name. Hallelujah!

Peace is one of the most expensive ‘commodities in life. It is very precious and no one ever wants to lose it.

Many people in the world would give all their possessions just to attain peace of heart and mind. But that is not how to get peace. The Bible reveals the way to us.

Our opening scripture teaches that there is no peace to the wicked. This means that until wickedness is forsaken, there can be no peace.

Proverbs 28:1 says “The wicked flee when no one is pursuing them, but the righteous is bold as a lion”. The source of all human fears, wars, strife, anxieties and everything that takes away peace, is wickedness.

Peace never comes because of wealth; it only comes after wickedness has been dealt with. The solution to wickedness is righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ. Righteousness is therefore the foundation for finding true and lasting peace.

Note that as the wicked is fleeing when no one is pursuing him, the righteous stand bold as a lion. Righteousness is God’s way of bringing you the peace you need.

Romans 5:1 says “having been declared righteous through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. Peace is possible. It is accessed through the righteousness that comes from believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

So, you can find peace today. Believe in Jesus Christ and be made righteous. That is the sure way to true and lasting peace. Glory to Jesus!

Jesus Christ came full of grace and truth (John 1:14). He came to minister grace to us and lead us into the truth.

This also means that every work of Jesus, is a revelation of God’s grace towards man. Salvation, healing and setting the captives free are all works that display the grace of God towards mankind.

Our opening scripture teaches that we are saved by grace through faith. The word ‘saved’ comes from the Greek ‘sozo’ which means salvation, preservation, safety, healing, and deliverance. It is an all inclusive word that describes all the blessings available to us through the redemption we have in Jesus Christ.

Divine healing is a work of God’s grace. Just as there is a saving grace, there is also a healing grace. The same grace that takes away our sins also brings us healing for our bodies.

We are saved from our sins by grace through faith, and we are also healed by grace through faith. None of the two is based on your good works; they are all gifts of God’s grace. They are received by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Your faith for healing will always work if you don’t base it on what you have done or not done but entirely on the finished work of Jesus. This is what it means to depend on the grace of God.

Faith works through grace including healing faith. You should believe that you are qualified for healing because Jesus died for you and by His wounds you were healed.

This understanding will help you know that God is willing to heal you every time including times when you feel you don’t qualify. His healing is a work of grace and it is for all who come to Him in faith. That is why even non believers get healed on crusades before they are saved. Healing is yours because it is a work of God’s grace. Hallelujah!

Our opening scripture reveals a great truth to us - God’s first priority is forgiveness of sins and then healing for the body.

Notice that they brought a sick man to Jesus but before healing him, He first dealt with the sin problem. He said, “Son, your sins are forgiven [you] and put away ...”

The Lord was showing us that forgiveness of sins which brings salvation for our souls is the number one priority of heaven. Jesus came to seek and save the lost - that is His primary mission (Luke 19:10).

The putting away of your sins is God’s primary work in your life because saving your soul is His first priority. He wants to rescue you from all your sins and give you eternal life. This inside work is more important than the outside work of healing your body.

Note that if you are healed of sickness and disease but not yet forgiven and saved from your sins, you still end up in hell. Salvation for the soul is the key to securing a place in heaven. It is the only way to become a child of God. That is why it is Jesus’ first priority in your life.

Faith and prayer are interconnected. They work hand-in-hand to help us secure the results we desire in life.

Faith is based on the promises of God and the finished work of Jesus Christ. Faith comes as you hear the word of God and receive it with an open heart (Romans 10:17).

The coming in of faith into your heart, often provokes you to pray. Prayer is a platform for releasing your faith in God. It is a platform for declaring the promises of God over your life. It is a channel through which you express what you truly believe.

The prayer of faith is a prayer based on the promises of God. It is a means for reaching out to take a hold of those things which already belong to you in Christ Jesus. The hand by which you reach out is faith and the channel you use is prayer.

This helps us understand that our knowledge of God’s word, shapes our attitude and faith in prayer. The quality of your prayer life is determined by how much you know from God’s word. Ignorance and insufficient information from God’s word, are the greatest causes of lack of faith and little results in prayer.

So, become a diligent student of God’s word so that you know His promises (towards you) and the finished work of Jesus Christ. Then, use those promises and the acquired knowledge to stand strong in faith in prayer and declare changes in every area of your life. This is the partnership between prayer and faith. God’s primary work is to change the leader. Once the leader is transformed, he can be trusted and sent by God to transform others.

This concept is clearly revealed throughout the scriptures both in the old and New Testament. God must first make the man before He sends him and commissions him to work for Him.

Our opening scripture teaches that God draws you as a leader, and then others run after Him. God wants to first have your heart as a leader before He can use you to win the hearts of others. He wants to first teach you and make you teachable before He sends you out to be an instructor to others.

Only those who are taught well by God and accept His leadership can effectively lead others. Until God has the freedom to transform a leader, He doesn’t have the ability to work through Him to change others.

It is the leader who has been impacted greatly by God in prayer, Bible study and through spiritual discipline, who has the power to impact and change others effectively. It is therefore great wisdom for every leader to seek first to be taught by God before trying to teach others. Seek first to know God deeply before seeking to reveal Him to others. This will give you a firm foundation for effective leadership.

Your first and greatest priority as a leader should not be how many people you are impacting, but how much transformation is going on in your life as you fellowship with God. After you are changed, it will be easy for God to work through you mightily to change multitudes for His glory. Glory to Jesus!

Reconciling the Two Destinies

There are two kinds of destiny; natural destiny and divine or heavenly destiny.

The natural destiny is a result of the natural events surrounding your life. Forexample, you become an engineer because you studied engineering or become a nurse because you went to nursing school. This is a destiny you find yourself in because of the various events that occured and shaped the course of your life over the years.

On the other hand, divine destiny is the path God chooses for you. It is not based on your own decisions or natural events but on God’s predetermined will for your life. It can even contradict your natural destiny and ambitions.

Forexample, you may have studied and became an engineer by profession, but God can call you to become a Pastor. This doesn’t mean you quit being an engineer, it only reveals that you have found your divine destiny to accompany the natural destiny you are already pursuing.

Divine destiny is superior to your natural destiny. Your natural destiny is meant to serve and be submissive to your divine destiny. God wants you to use your natural destiny to boost your effectiveness in pursing and fulfilling your divine destiny.

True spiritual maturity comes when you learn to reconcile your natural destiny with your divine destiny. The knowledge you acquired in school can help you study the Bible better, and easily capture the interpretations given to you by the Holy Spirit. This makes you a better teacher and preacher of God’s word.

Bezalel was first a carpenter and skilled craftsman before God used him to build the Tabernacle under Moses’ ministry. David was first a shepherd boy taking care of his father’s few sheep before God made him a shepherd and King over Israel. He was also a skillful harp player and God used that talent to produce wonderful songs that became the book of Psalms.

Peter too was first a fisherman before Jesus turned him into a fisher of men (a soul winner). So, learn to use your natural destiny to pursue divine destiny more effectively. That is the wisdom of the mature that helps them live a balanced and fulfilling life. Glory to Jesus!

God is always speaking and sending out messages to guide us into the best paths for our lives. However, the challenge is yielding to Him.

The story of Abraham has many great lessons but the key lesson is yielding to God. In our opening scriptures, we see that when Abram was called to leave his family and go to an unknown land, he obeyed.

Hebrews 11:8 reveals that he went out not knowing exactly where he was going. He went out by faith. It takes faith in God to yield to His leadings and promptings in your life. Many people hear from God but the challenge is believing what He said to them.

The proof of faith in God’s word to you, is your yieldedness and obedience. Abraham’s obedience, was a sign of His faith in what God said to him. He yielded to God because he trusted Him and His word.

Faith is not only for getting miracles from God; it is also the backbone for yielding to God and obeying His voice. Your actions of faith are the ways you yield to God. They are the key to walking with Him and inheriting all He has in store for you. Abraham became great because he believed and yielded to God.

So, cultivate the habit of obeying the voice of God in your life. Take His instructions seriously and act on them with all your heart. When you miss it (which you will do), repent and humble yourself before Him. This is how you yield to God, in Jesus Name!

One of the greatest errors in life is always celebrating other people and never celebrate yourself. It also includes taking care of others and never taking good care of yourself. This is not the right attitude in life.

We should serve others, appreciate and celebrate them without neglecting ourselves. God didn’t tell us to love our neighbors and hate or neglect ourselves. He said, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself”.

Celebrating who you are and what God has done in and for you is part of loving yourself. It is key to empowering you and positioning you to be effective in loving others. If you can’t love, appreciate and celebrate yourself, it will be impossible for you to love, appreciate and celebrate others.

In our opening scripture, David took a personal journey to think about his life and what God had done in his life. His conclusion caused him to celebrate himself and say, “I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made.” Hallelujah!

Can you say that about yourself? You should rejoice in who God has made you. How he fashioned you, your speech, where you live, your work and all the opportunities He has given you. Thank God for the gift of life, the friends He has given you, and all the times He has protected you from evil.

Like David, learn to appreciate and celebrate yourself. Say to yourself, “I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made.” That should be your testimony. Keep it in your thoughts and in your mouth always because it is the truth.

The New Century Version says, “I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well.” Glory to Jesus! It is great wisdom to learn to celebrate yourself because you are worth celebrating, in Jesus Name!

Healing Instructions

And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.”

Every miracle Jesus performed was unique because it carried a definite message to us. Every healing was a message about the character of God and provided an understanding of the ways of His kingdom. There is great wisdom hidden in all the miracles of Jesus. They are for our learning and encouragement.

In our opening scripture, we see Jesus healing ten lepers. But unlike the leper He touched and healed in Mark 1:40-42, in this case He never touched any of them. Jesus simply gave the ten lepers an instruction, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”

Scripture says, “And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.” Note that it was as they went to see the priest that they were healed. The key to their healing was acting on the instruction of Jesus. There healing was hidden in the specific instruction given to them by the Lord. Hallelujah!

Divine healing is easy when you connect to the specific instruction God has for you. It is not about what kind of sickness you have, but your connection to God’s specific instruction for your healing. It was not about how leprous the men were or how long they had suffered but their healing was hidden in acting on Jesus’ instruction.

Understand that God is not limited to one or two ways of healing; He can heal through diverse ways. Understanding the unique way He wants to heal you is more important than the healing itself. It is the key to unlocking and receiving your healing.

Copying God’s way of healing others won’t always work. It is best to inquire from God and find out His unique instruction for healing you. The ten lepers would have missed their healing if they were locked in Jesus’ pattern of touching the sick and laying hands on them. They would also have missed it if they desired to dip themselves in Jordan seven times like Naaman. In their case, the specific healing instruction was “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”

So, most times the issue is not that God can’t of doesn’t want to heal but that many people miss His specific way of healing them. Once God’s instruction concerning your case is revealed, your healing is readily made available. If you receive that instruction with joy and act on it in faith, nothing can stop you from being healed. That is the power of healing instructions. Glory to Jesus!

God is love and is impartial. He has set a foundation for everyone in this world to be saved. His love is all inclusive. There is no one on earth that God doesn’t love or care about.

In 1 Timothy 2:4, He reveals that He wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. ALL MEN means all humanity and that includes you. It is God’s desire for you to be saved from your sins and come to the knowledge of the truth.

Our opening scripture, reveals that God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He even gave up His only begotten Son - Jesus, so that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life. Salvation is free for all. Everyone in the world has been loved by God through the sacrifice of Jesus, and all can come to Him and be saved.

Whoever believes in Jesus at any time, anywhere, regardless of their tribe, nationality or family background, can be saved and receive eternal life. God’s salvation is not for a select few; it is for whoever believes. Hallelujah!

So, you can receive this salvation today if you haven’t yet, and be saved from perishing. God will forgive you of all your sins and give you eternal life. Salvation is free and you don’t have to pay for it; Jesus paid the full price so that whoever believes is saved, in Jesus Name.

The Challenge of Faith; The Ten Spies

When God makes a promise to you, the next phase is for you to believe that promise. Believing what God says to you, is the key to possessing what He promises. Your faith is what unlocks the potentials and possibilities in God’s promises to you.

In our opening scripture, we see that though God had made a promise to give Israel the promised land, they did not believe it. The doubt was mainly caused by the evil report of unbelief brought back by the ten spies.

Unbelief and doubt disconnect you from what God has for you. They are Satan’s tools for hindering you from walking in the promises of God.

When God tells you that the land is yours and you say “I can’t possess it”, you make His word of promise ineffective in your life. Faith is the key to cooperating and working with God. When you believe, you are saying to God, “I choose to agree with you”.

Doubt is disagreeing with God and His word. It is thinking, speaking and acting contrary to what He desires for you. The challenge of faith is to take God at His word inspite of the obstacles you see. If God says you are taking the land, don’t consider the giants. If He says by His wounds you were healed, don’t consider the symptoms.

Understand that whatever you exalt, is what you worship. What you worship is what you truly believe in. Exalting God and His word above the contrary situations, is a sign of worship to Him. It pleases Him and provokes His power to work for you. This is the challenge of faith. Glory to Jesus!

Leadership Series: In the Silent Years

It takes time for God to make you a leader. There are several phases and processes He takes you through to make you the man or woman you are created to be in this world.

1 Timothy 3:6 warns us not to put novices or immature people in positions of ministry. The point is that the training of God is necessary to mature you and turn you into a great leader.

One of the major aspects of God’s leadership training process are the silent years. Silent years represent the years of your obscurity from the public eye. They are years when you are being formed by God in character and spiritual stature.

Our opening scripture gives us an example of John the Baptist. Though he was born with a leadership mandate to go before the Lord and prepare the way for Him, he experienced many silent years in the wilderness - growing strong in Spirit before his manifestation to Israel.

The silent years are years when God shapes the leader’s character, changes their thinking to align with His, and clearly reveals to them His purpose and assignment for their life. It is also the time when God anoints you, awakens the gifts of the Spirit in your life, and teaches you how to function in the anointing He has given you.

It is sometimes called the wilderness experience. This is because it is filled with several tests that come to mature you and turn you into a responsible leader. With every test, there is a lesson to learn and wisdom to imparted to your heart.

Jesus experienced 18 silent years before His manifestation. Moses also experienced 40 silent years before God appeared to him at the burning bush and called him to be deliverer of Israel. Bible scholars say that Joseph also spent 18 years of testing (in Potiphar’s house and in prison) before he became prime minister and walked in the reality of God’s dreams for his life.

As a leader, silent years don’t mean that God has forgotten you; He is simply working on you to perfect all that concerns you. He is with you and building you into the leader He ordained you to be. He is strengthening your spirit, imparting wisdom and making clear His vision for your life. So, don’t panic or be discouraged. Accept God’s training and believe that in due time your vision will speak. Hallelujah!

The King James version says “The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.” As you walk with God, you will come to know that He will never ask you to do anything without first giving you the ability to do it. For everything God requests you to do, He first empowers you.

Forexample, God tells us to love one another because His love has been shed abroad our hearts through the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). He tells us to live by faith because He has already given us the spirit of faith (2 Cor. 4:13) and His word as the material for increasing in faith (Romans 10:17).

With this background, we can now understand what He means when He tells us to treat older women as mothers and younger women as sisters WITH ALL PURITY.

God is not only telling us how to treat people but He is actually revealing to us the ability He has given us to do so. The ability is the purity within your spirit.

As a child of God, your heart is pure and you have the ability to treat people right. God is not telling you to look for purity outside of you, but to simply yield to the purity He has already placed within you and use it as your ability to treat others right.

With all the purity in your spirit, you are able to treat old women as mothers and young women as sisters. This is part of your inheritance as a child of God.

Though the world is evil, you have God’s purity within you as an ability for treating all people with respect. Learn to yield to this purity everyday. It will prevent you from hurting or abusing anyone. You will always find yourself thinking and acting right towards all those around you even in difficult times because you have learnt to yield to the pure spirit within you. Hallelujah!

Escaping the Trap of Excuses

What is an excuse? It is the reason you give inorder to avoid doing something or being held responsible for certain actions.

In our opening scripture, God attaches excuses to a life of laziness. He says, “The lazy person is full of excuses, saying, ‘If I go outside, I might meet a lion in the street and be killed!’”

Excuses are well meaning reasons for justifying one’s reason for not acting as demanded. However, they are a trap because they make you lazy and don’t take away the consequences of not doing what is required of you.

Forexample, if you refuse to work hard, poverty will not excuse you; it will definitely attack you.

The cure for excuses is discipline and being responsible for your life. Discipline demands of you to act as you should in every situation regardless of how you feel. It is the ability to control your emotions and stick to the goals and plan you set for your life. Discipline is your ability to function by the set principles and not be carried away by the prevailing circumstances.

The truth is that no one wants to work hard everyday or wake up late in the night to pray and plan. However, all successful people will tell you that it is by doing those things you don’t want to do, that you get to your desired future. Success has a price and that price is disciplined action coupled with sacrifice. Excusing yourself from these two, automatically nullifies your potential for success.

Wisdom teaches you to value work and understand that it is a blessing and not a burden or ‘hustle’. God Himself said, “I will bless the works of your hands”. Jesus said “I must work the works of Him that sent me while it is day”. All the patriarchs including father Abraham were hard workers. Paul the great Apostle said, “I labored more abundantly than them all”.

So, as a child of God don’t give any excuse for not working. Be passionate and diligent in your work. Always give your very best in service to God and at your workplace. This is God’s wisdom for escaping the trap of excuses and its consequences which include poverty and the frustration that comes from unfulfilled goals. Glory to Jesus!

The Barnabas Effect: Discerning Your Destiny Helpers

“Saul went to Jerusalem and tried to join the disciples. But they would not believe that he was a disciple, and they were all afraid of him. Then Barnabas came to his help and took him to the apostles. He explained to them how Saul had seen the Lord on the road and that the Lord had spoken to him. He also told them how boldly Saul had preached in the name of Jesus in Damascus. And so Saul stayed with them and went all over Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord.”

The church has been greatly impacted by the ministry of the great man - Apostle Paul. Paul wrote three quarters of the New Testament. It is through his letters that we understand what Jesus truly did for us on the Cross and who we are in Him.

However, Paul didn’t start out that way. Our opening scripture reveals that he was first rejected by the believers because they doubted his salvation. God helped him through Barnabas.

Though he is not so much known and celebrated by the church, Barnabas is the man God used to bring Paul to the scene. He is the vessel God used to help Paul be accepted both by the apostles and the brethren. This was essential to the ministry of Paul.

The Barnabas effect refers to those people assigned on your path to help you enter doors that are difficult for you to enter by yourself. These are destiny helpers whom God has shown the true picture of who you are and are willing to do anything to help you fulfill His purpose for your life.

Barnabas was not Paul’s companion; he was his destiny helper sent from God. His assignment was to open the door for Paul to go in and do what God had called him to do. His mission was to make easy the areas that were difficult for Paul as he started his ministry.

The Barnabas effect is one of the major keys to fulfilling your destiny. God expects you to understand that you don’t have the power to open every door by yourself. He expects you to be humble enough to discern your destiny helpers, receive them and submit to their authority so that they help you.

Failure to believe in your destiny helpers or reject them makes certain doors impossible for you to enter. Wisdom teaches that people are not brought your way just for fun but for a purpose. The doors of God are opened through men and women around you. There are people who have the keys to the future you desire.

So, knowing your destiny helpers and working with them, is key to being aligned with God’s will for your life and fulfilling your destiny effectively. Just as Paul’s destiny came to light when Barnabas took him and introduced him to the apostles, yours too will flourish and bear great testimonies for the Lord when you discover your destiny helpers and submit to them, in Jesus Name.

Healing Series: The Proof of Faith

“Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.””

Faith is one of the cardinal elements of the Christian life. It is impossible to please God without faith (Heb. 11:6).

Salvation is by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8). Healing is according to your faith. Every miracle in your life is a result of operating by faith. Lastly, God said “the righteous shall live by faith” (Heb. 10:38). So, the whole christian life is a journey of faith. That is why it is very important for us to understand the subject of faith.

Today, I am majoring on the proof of faith. Proof refers to evidence. In our opening scripture, we are given a clear example of the proof of faith. When the men that brought the paralytic saw that there was no room to get him through the door, they uncovered the roof of the house and lowered him down before Jesus.

Note that scripture says “when Jesus SAW THEIR FAITH ... He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” How did Jesus see their faith? He saw it in their action of uncovering the roof to ensure their friend is brought before Him for healing.

The proof that they believed Jesus could heal their friend was revealed by their persistent action to get to where Jesus was. Actions of faith are the proof of your faith in God. What you do on the outside in response to the faith you have in your heart, is the evidence of your faith.

That is why I never understand when someone says I missed service because I was sick. I always think that is the very reason they should attend the service so that they get healed. By staying home, they show that they have no faith for healing. If they take a step of faith and come to the service, God honors their faith and heals them.

Jesus told the paralytic man, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!” (Mark 2:11-12).

The second proof of faith was the way the paralytic man responded to Jesus’ instruction. He was healed because he acted on Jesus’ word in faith. His action of rising up when Jesus told him to do so, is what caused the healing power to perfect his body and deliver him from the paralysis.

James 2:17 teaches us that faith without works is dead. It is your actions of faith that make your healing manifested. It is your actions of working hard that make your faith for prosperity and success a reality. It is your action of confessing Jesus as Lord that leads to salvation.

Without engaging in corresponding actions, faith is made ineffective. So, whatever God says to you, do it. That is how you prove your faith, in Jesus Name.

Actions of faith are the proof of your faith in God. What you do on the outside in response to the faith you have in your heart, is the evidence of your faith.

Salvation is an entry into the kingdom of God and the reception of eternal life.

In this new kingdom and new life, we are forgiven of all our sins and live as children of God. This is what it means to be born again. We are born into a new kingdom, a new life and a new family - the family of God.

As members of this family, we are called to live our lives for God. Part of the way we do so is by serving Him. Serving God is part of the reasons why we are born again. We are saved to become God’s instruments for saving others. We are saved so that we become God’s channels for reaching out to save others.

There are various ways to serve God: through preaching the gospel, sharing and caring for the needy, teaching a small Bible study group, giving towards the spread of the gospel, being part of the worship team, ushering or any other department in church. Anything that you do to promote the causes of the kingdom of God, is acceptable as service to God (so long as it doesn’t contradict scripture).

However, God cares about how we serve and our opening scripture reveals the right attitude we should have while serving God. We are to serve the Lord WITH ALL OUR HEART. The King James says we should be fervent in spirit as we serve the Lord. A modern version says we should be burning with zeal as we serve the Lord.

The point is that in all your service, give God the best of you. Give Him the best of your time, energy and resources. That is the best way to serve Him with all your heart.

Understanding God’s love for us, is one of the greatest weapons we have against deception. Once we are sure that God loves us and has the best in mind for us, it is very difficult for the enemy to turn us away from Him.

One of the greatest tools Satan uses to turn people away from God is the lie that God doesn’t care about them. He convinces them that if God loved and cared for them, He wouldn’t have allowed them to go through bad situations.

This deception can easily be defeated by understanding that God is for you and never against you. He loves you more than anyone you know and is committed to doing you good all the days of your life. In all things, God is always fighting to ensure that you have the victory. He has never and will never celebrate your failure.

In our opening scripture, God clearly reveals that all His plans for you are good and never evil. He wants you to prosper and have a great future. He is always on your side to defend you from evil and ensure that you become all that He wants you to be. Success is all that God wishes for you.

So, even at your worst, know that He still loves you and wants the best for you. Instead of complaining and turning your back against Him, pray and He will answer you. His anger only endures for a moment but His love for you is everlasting. He never gives up on His children because He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

God is always for you and with you. This is your source of hope for change and assurance of a great future ahead of you, in Jesus Name!

Leadership Series: You Are God’s Choice

True leadership comes from God. It is God who appoints the right leaders over nations, ministries and even families.

Forexample, in the home, God said the man is the head of the family; that is His choice. That is the same way He chooses you to lead.

Our opening scripture confirms this. David was the youngest of all his brethren and when Prophet Samuel came to anoint a King over Israel, David’s dad never considered him as a fit candidate for the position. He forgot him and only brought seven of his choicest sons to Samuel.

In the mind of Jesse, the seven older brothers of David were the ones fit to be the king of Israel. However, God doesn’t think like men and His choices often contradict people’s choices.

As a leader, you may look weak, not have as much education as those you lead and fall short in many areas of your life, but God has chosen you. He saw all those people who seem to be more intelligent, more organized and well built in body, but still chose you because He saw something in you that they don’t have. You are God’s choice!

God saw David’s heart and not his age or height. That was his qualification for leadership. This means that regardless of how many people disqualify you, God’s endorsement is what counts. As a leader, God chose you because He knows that your heart is right inspite of your mistakes and weaknesses. He knows that you truly love Him and are doing your best to perform His will for your life. He knows that you truly love the people you lead and desire the best for them.

These are greater things before God than your size and age. Your heart counts more than all your physical weaknesses. David fell short in many ways, but His heart was right and pure even in times of weakness. This is what made him the greatest King of Israel.

So, as a leader be bold and don’t allow anyone to intimidate you. The reason is that you can’t lead afraid and intimidated. You can’t also lead while doubting yourself and feeling unqualified. Understand that God saw all those people you think are more qualified than you and yet He still chose you. You are God’s choice! Hallelujah! Glory to Jesus!

It is God’s will for you to have a good life. God wants the very best of everything for you. He wants you to have the good and perfect gifts He has in store for you. He believes that you deserve it.

However, this requires a mindset shift and faith. You must believe that you are qualified for God’s best. You must also believe that you deserve it.

The reason is that after going through much suffering and making many mistakes in life, it is easy to settle for less. When people go through much suffering and negativity, it tends to condition them to start accepting evil as their lot and destiny in life. But this is a lie from the devil. The truth is that God wants to forgive you, restore you and give you the best in life.

Our opening scripture reveals that God’s mind towards you is to give you good and perfect gifts. He doesn’t want negativity to shape your thinking and make you believe that He has cancelled your name from the list of those He wants to bless.

Understand that your failures are not enough reason to disqualify you from God’s good and perfect gifts in life. His love for you is greater than all your mistakes and He still has the best in mind for you. God is love and doesn’t hold grudges. He is slow to anger and abounding in love. He is always loving and caring. He still believes in you and believes that you deserve His best.

So, believe that you deserve a good husband inspite of your bad past as a young ‘spoilt girl’. Believe that you deserve a good life inspite of the times you failed and didn’t obey God’s voice. Your mistakes haven’t changed God. His love for you still remains the same. You are His child and you still deserve the best - good and perfect gifts from Him. Hallelujah! Glory to Jesus!

Revelation: Your Place of Possession

“The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

The purpose of hearing God’s word, is to receive divine revelation. When REVELATION comes into your heart about God, His power and who you are in Him, it is impossible for you to remain a captive of the enemy.

Revelation knowledge is the mother of faith and freedom. Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. John 8:32 shows that the more insight you have, the better positioned you are in God and in this world for success and freedom.

Our opening scripture teaches us that the secret things belong to God but the things that are revealed belong to us. Revelation shows you what belongs to you so that you can possess it. God says, “if you can see it in His word, then nothing can block you from having it”. Hallelujah!

Revelation is the unveiling of those things which belong to you so that you possess them. Forexample, when you read that Jesus took your sicknesses and bore your diseases, and by His wounds you were healed, healing is revealed to your heart. That revelation of your healing is what brings faith for healing and helps you possess it.

Proverbs 29:18 (AMP) says, “Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish ...”. Revelation knowledge from God’s word is the foundation for building strong faith to enable you possess all that God has for you in Christ. Once it is revealed to you, it is readily available to you for your taking.

This is what God meant when He said to Joshua, “Every place the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given you” (Joshua 1:3). You tread upon scripture through revelation and every scripture you tread upon, you possess.

Once you see your healing in the scriptures by revelation, diseases lose their power over you. Once revelation on financial prosperity comes to your heart, poverty and lack lose their grip on you. REVELATION is the power to break away from anything that has been hindering you. It is your platform for accessing all that you need in God.

So, as you read the Bible, always ask God to open your eyes and show you great and wonderful things that you don’t know (Psalm 119:18). When it is revealed to you, it is yours to possess, in Jesus Name!

Wisdom is the principal thing (Proverbs 4:7). It is therefore the greatest asset for building a successful life. Anyone who helps you access wisdom, is your greatest helper in life.

However, the wisdom of God operates by laws and principles. One of those principles is the law of focus. Focus means paying utmost attention to what you are doing. It is a state of mind and heart where you are obsessed with what you are doing that nothing can distract you.

Focus means being where you are per time and doing what is required of you with all your heart and strength. It is the ability to totally concentrate and do what is required of you until it is accomplished.

Our opening scripture reveals that with focus comes establishment. When you give your work the focus it requires, your labours will be unique and yield outstanding results. Focus is the foundation for accuracy, excellence and effectiveness at work.

Focus is the key to finishing whatever you start. If you have many unfinished projects on your desk, just improve your level of focus. Remove the distractions and learn to give your work all it takes. Soon, you will realize that you have accomplished so much in a very short time.

Focus is key to effectiveness. Whatever you do with maximum concentration, always yields the greatest results. With every distraction, you lose energy and time that would have been spent on the right projects. This reduces your speed of accomplishment and ability to execute your work effectively. Focus helps you maximize your strength and skills in the pursuit of the right goals.

Distractions are Satan’s tools for reducing your effectiveness and making you a mediocre person. So, learn to focus on each task at hand. Don’t let distractions cause you to turn to the right hand or to the left. Look straight ahead with purpose and keep working until every task is accomplished. This is your wisdom for becoming an effective and excellent worker, in Jesus Name.

Healing Series: In the Beginning

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

When you go to see a doctor, they can’t help you except you submit to the instructions they give you. You must take the medicine as prescribed for it to work. The same is true for spiritual healing. You must follow the steps prescribed by God for you to receive your healing.

Romans 10:17 says “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God”. Hearing the Word of God is the foundation for building faith for any miracle you need from God including divine healing.

Our opening scripture clearly shows us this pattern. It says, “In the beginning was the Word ...”. The Word of God comes before the healing. It should lay the foundation for the start of your journey towards healing. Before trying to be healed, be patient enough to listen to the Word of God and build your faith. Hearing the Word of God to build faith is the first step in your journey towards receiving healing from God.

In Luke 5:15 and 6:17, the people understood this and they came to Jesus, “to hear and to be healed of their diseases”. They had learnt that you must begin with the Word of God before going for the healing.

People blame preachers when they are prayed for and they don’t get healed. However, the challenge with such people is that they don’t want to follow the pattern God set in scripture. If you fail to receive your healing, go back and check whether you began the journey the right way according to divine pattern. Instead of blaming preachers and comparing them, check yourself to see if “in the beginning was the Word”.

The Word of God is the sure foundation for having faith for divine healing. Once the foundation is properly set, it is impossible for the healing power of God not to work for you.

So, become a lover of the teaching of God’s Word. Listen to the Word on healing until you understand it. Then, it will produce in you the faith you require to receive healing from God. Those who begin with the word, always easily believe and receive their healing. This is the right pattern for receiving healing from God, in Jesus Name!

The Choice to Believe

“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who refuses to believe will be condemned.””

The purpose of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ is to give everyone an opportunity to choose. When you hear the gospel, you can either believe and be saved or reject it and be condemned.

Our opening scripture reveals that as we preach some will believe and some will refuse to believe. The consequence is that those who believe will be saved and those who do not believe will be condemned.

When Jesus Christ is preached to you, you are presented with the opportunity to either choose eternal life or spiritual death. You can choose to receive the forgiveness of sins God has for you or remain bound by your sins.

Believing the gospel is a choice. Refusing to believe the gospel is also a choice. Whatever choice you make, determines where you end up in life and eternity.

John 3:16 says “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”. God’s part was done when He sent Jesus to die for your sins and He was raised for your righteousness. Now, all you need to do is believe in Jesus and be saved.

So, what is your choice? I encourage you to believe on the Lord Jesus and be saved. All your sins will be washed away and you will receive righteousness and eternal life. This is the best choice to make, in Jesus Mighty Name!
