Excellence means standing out. It means doing more than the rest and rising in rank above your peers. The literal meaning is to surpass others.

Excellence is a product of being disciplined in thought, speech, and actions. It is an attribute of the wisdom of God at work in you. It is also rooted in being diligent in all your work.

Daniel demonstrated the wisdom of God through the manifestation of an excellent spirit. He did his work so well that he became distinguished from all his peers. He was promoted and became leader of all.

Excellence also brought him into great favor with the king, and he thought of making him ruler over the entire kingdom. The lesson is that the easiest way to increase in favor is by being excellent in all you do. For example, if you are a tailor, learn so much about tailoring and do your work so well that you stand out. Whatever profession you are in, diligently study the relevant materials and be acquainted with the relevant facts that you become excellent at it.

Proverbs 22:29 (AMP) says, "Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men." Excellence demands diligence, but the reward is great promotion. You will be rewarded for every sacrifice you make to ensure that your work is done excellently. God is fair; even if the company you are working for doesn't recognize and reward you, God will move other people your way to favor and reward you for your excellent spirit.

So, whatever your hand finds to do, do it heartily as unto the Lord and not unto men. This is the key to cultivating an excellent spirit, in Jesus Name! Glory to Jesus!
